.SH NAME
lctl-lqa-add \- add a range of quota IDs to a Lustre Quota ID Aggregate
.SH SYNOPSIS
.SY "lctl lqa add"
.BI --fsname " FSNAME"
.BI --name " LQANAME"
.BI --range " START-END"
.YS
.SH DESCRIPTION
Add a range of quota IDs to an existing Lustre Quota ID Aggregate (LQA)
with the name
.I LQANAME
to the filesystem named
.IR FSNAME .
The
.B lctl lqa add
command must be run on the MDS0 node by the root user.
.P
The
.B --range
parameter specifies a range of quota IDs (ProjIDs, UIDs, or GIDs) to add
to the LQA in the format
.B START-END
where both
.I START
and
.I END
are numeric quota IDs. For example,
.B --range 100000-199999
adds all quota IDs from 100000 to 199999 (inclusive) to the LQA.
.P
Multiple ranges can be added to the same LQA by running the command
multiple times with different
.B --range
values. This allows creating non-contiguous ranges within a single LQA.
.P
Once a range is added to an LQA, the filesystem administrator can set
an aggregate quota limit on that LQA. Tenant administrators can then set
individual ID quotas within the range. The aggregate limit acts as a hard
cap: if the sum of all individual ID usage exceeds the aggregate limit,
further allocations will be denied with EDQUOT (quota exceeded) error.
.SH EXAMPLES
Add a range to a tenant LQA. Use lfs setquota to enforce project quotas for
IDs within this LQA:
.EX
mds0# lctl lqa add --fsname lfs02 --name tenant1 --range 100000-199999
.EE
.PP
Add another non-contiguous range to the same LQA:
.EX
mds0# lctl lqa add --fsname lfs02 --name tenant1 --range 300000-399999
.EE
.PP
After adding ranges, the filesystem administrator can set aggregate quotas
on the LQA using
.BR lfs-setquota (1)
with the LQA name. Tenant administrators can then set individual ID quotas
within the range.
