.SH DESCRIPTION
The
.B lctl lqa
commands are used to manage Lustre Quota ID Aggregates (LQAs) on a Lustre
filesystem. An LQA is a quota aggregation mechanism that enables an extra level
of administrative control over quota enforcement. LQAs are particularly useful
for multitenancy use-cases where filesystem administrators need to delegate
quota management to tenant administrators.
.P
An LQA allows setting quota limits on ranges of Project IDs (ProjIDs), User IDs
(UIDs), or Group IDs (GIDs). The range quota is independent from quotas on
individual IDs within that range. When both a range quota (LQA) and individual
ID quotas exist, whichever limit is reached first is enforced. This enables a
multi-level quota hierarchy where:
.RS
.IP \(bu 2
Filesystem administrators set aggregate quotas on ID ranges (LQAs)
.IP \(bu 2
Tenant administrators can then manage individual ID quotas within their
assigned range
.IP \(bu 2
The aggregate limit acts as a hard cap on total usage for all IDs in the range
.RE
.P
All LQA commands must be run on the MDS0 node by the root user,
with a local client mountpoint for the
.BR lfs-setquota (1)
commands.
.SS COMMANDS
.TP
.BR lctl-lqa-new (8)
Create a new Lustre Quota ID Aggregate (LQA).
.TP
.BR lctl-lqa-add (8)
Add a range of quota IDs to an existing LQA.
.TP
.BR lctl-lqa-remove (8)
Remove a range of quota IDs from an existing LQA.
.TP
.BR lctl-lqa-destroy (8)
Destroy an existing LQA.
.TP
.BR lctl-lqa-list (8)
List all LQAs in a filesystem or display details of a specific LQA.
.SH EXAMPLES
Multitenancy use case:
In a multitenancy environment, the filesystem administrator creates an LQA for
each tenant with a range of ProjIDs allocated to that tenant. For example:
.RS
.EX
.RB mds0# " lctl lqa new --fsname lfs02 --name tenant1"
.RB mds0# " lctl lqa add --fsname lfs02 --name tenant1 --range 100000-199999"
.RB mds0# " lfs setquota -P --lqa tenant1 -b 900G -B 1T /mnt/lfs02"
.RB mds0# " lfs quota -P --lqa tenant1 /mnt/lfs02"
.EE
.RE
.P
The tenant administrator can then set individual ProjID quotas within the
[100000-199999] range. The aggregate limit is configured with
.BR "lfs setquota --lqa" .
Use
.B lfs quota --lqa
to review the current LQA limit and usage.
